Properties of Hydrogen Peroxide H2O2
Hydrogen peroxide is distilled water with an extra oxygen molecule (H2O2) The extra oxygen molecule binds on to impurities in whatever it touches and removes them. It will bind to anything it comes into contact with, that is not hydrogen or oxygen, so when higher concentrations are ingested or come in contact with the skin it can produce a chemical burn. having said that, depending on the concentration of H2O2, hydrogen peroxide can be used as a mouthwash (1% food grade only!!) deep cleaner, bleach (oxy clean is H2O2) or at higher concentrations a medical grade high-level disinfectant and even compete liquid sterilization (with prolonged exposure) This information can be found on the CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/infectioncontrol/guidelines/disinfection/disinfection-methods/chemical.html
Hydrogen peroxide at high dilution can cause chemical burns, and inhaling or ingesting at more than 1% should be strictly avoided.
Hydrogen peroxide is photosensitive, so coloured glass is the best way to store H2O2.
Porous materials can lose colour so it is recommended to use on hard surfaces only.
